Meet Dorothea: 15 years of building trust and growing together

Dorothea Dührig is Head of Customer Service at Normec Valitech. With over 15 years at the company, she has witnessed its growth from a small team of six people to a well-established organization. Throughout this journey, one thing has remained constant: a strong belief in teamwork and shared responsibility.

Building something together

“When I started, we were a small team with many unanswered questions and just as many opportunities,” Dorothea recalls. “That dynamic immediately appealed to me.”

From the start, collaboration was essential. Without fully defined processes, the team worked closely together to find solutions, support one another, and move the organization forward. “Everyone pitched in where needed. That mindset is still part of who we are today.”

Strength through collaboration

Today, Normec Valitech has grown into a company with around 100 employees, its own laboratory, and a nationwide field service. Despite this growth, collaboration remains at the core of how the team operates. “Our strength lies in how we work together across teams,” Dorothea explains. “There is close communication, alignment, and a strong sense of partnership in everything we do.” Being part of Normec has further strengthened this way of working, opening up new opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration across entities.

Turning challenges into teamwork

Challenges are part of daily work, especially in a complex customer environment. For Dorothea, these moments highlight the strength of the organization. “We solve challenges together, often through short lines of communication and by leveraging each other’s expertise,” she says. “In customer service, that means managing complex processes, aligning schedules, and ensuring high-quality service at all times.” A recent example was the development and implementation of a new quotation system. The project involved close collaboration across multiple departments and required strong alignment to succeed within a short timeframe. “The energy in the team was remarkable,” Dorothea reflects. “Everyone contributed ideas, asked the right questions, and worked toward a common goal. That made all the difference.”

A shared mindset that drives results 

For Dorothea, successful collaboration comes down to openness and trust. “We share ideas, challenge each other and build on each other’s strengths. That allows us to find the best solutions together.” Looking back, she sees this way of working as a defining strength. “It shows how capable and committed our teams are. And it proves that when we work together, we can achieve a lot in a short time.” 

Proud of the journey

What makes Dorothea most proud is the company’s overall development. From a small team to a key player in technical hygiene, the organization has grown significantly, while maintaining its collaborative spirit. “Being part of a company that contributes to improving hygiene standards in society is something I value deeply,” she says. “And doing that together with such a strong team makes it even more meaningful.”
